In Vitro or External Fertilization

In Vitro, cells are retrieved from either humans or animals and conduct experiments at a lab. While deriving cells from humans or non-human, no harm is caused to humans and animals. It offers numerous benefits. External Fertilization is a process where sperm is fertilized with an egg in an IVF laboratory. Here the eggs are retrieved from women’s egg follicles for this type of fertilization.  To mature the eggs, certain medications are given to women.

With help of ultrasound, egg development can be monitored. In addition to a collection of eggs, a certain amount of sperm is retrieved from mans’ semen. Sperm is placed into each egg in an IVF lab by an embryologist using highly sophisticated equipment. The time for egg fertilization or embryo would be around one to two weeks. Thereafter embryos are transferred to the Uterus.

As it is External Fertilization, the success rates of these embryos are less as compared to internal fertilization. There are chances of multiple risks in external fertilization, as a number of embryos is transferred.
